Media’s looming manpower crisis
The Indian media and entertainment industry is growing at a fairly robust pace and looks set to expand manifold over the next decade. But how will it find enough people with the right skills to feed the machine? One study puts the requirement for personnel at 4 million in 2022, a number that seems impossible to meet given the quality and employability of the current, meagre talent pool.

Central Bank of India to hire 3,000 people 
GUWAHATI: Central Bank of India plans to increase its manpower by 8% this fiscal with specific focus on hiring from northeast India. The state-run lender is targeting 20% growth in 2012-13 while its business in northeast India is likely to grow by 40%, chairman and managing director MV Tanksale said.

Infosys to hire 35,000 in FY'13
BANGALORE: Country's second largest IT firm Infosys today said it will hire 35,000 people this fiscal, including 13,000 for its BPO operations.

"We are going to add 35,000 more people next year, which includes 13,000 people for the BPO operations," Infosys member of the board and chief financial officer V Balakrishnan said.

Bangalore: Special Recruitment for 1764 PUC Lecturers
Bangalore, Apr 14: The State Education Department is conducting a special recruitment drive for filling up 1,764 posts of lecturers of different subjects in the Pre-University Education Department’s Government Pre-University Colleges.

Interested candidates can submit their applications in the prescribed format online on the website, www.schooleducation.kar.nic.in.

Soon, AICTE to launch job portal, academic website
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will soon launch a first of its kind academic networking site, along with an in-house job portal and a repository of doctorate papers to check duplication and cheating.

The academic networking site proposes to interconnect 7.5 million students enrolled across AICTE-approved institutions linked through email IDs. The yet to be christened networking site proposes to rope in faculty and industry stakeholders on to its database.
